off the beaten path sanctuary
changing cat lives - one at a time
Our amazing team consists of ..... me and one helper. I decided to care for the cats that show up here because I could not bear to see them hungry, sick and unwanted. I am not a 'rescue' because I am not able to adopt out the cats here. I decided to call myself a 'sanctuary' because I expect that the cats here - and more that I am sure will be dropped off in the future - to live out their lives with me.
Seeing that there was an immediate need to care for the many cats dropped off on my property, I began feeding them.
As the number of cats increased, I began building shelters for them. I was paying for all the food, building materials and vet care from my own pocket. When I noticed that more and more cats were being dropped off here , I could not turn them away. Then Melrose Humane Society found out about my problem, and offered to help. They offered to set up an on-line donation site to let others know about my cats and help me to feed and care for them.
Off the Beaten Path Sanctuary needs to remain hidden. So many cats are being abandoned here, that I cannot allow this property location to be found. I am happy to be working through Melrose Humane Society to raise money for the care and feeding of my cats since I am limited in funds to feed, house and get veterinary care for the many cats that live here. All my cats are spayed or neutered as soon as I can catch them. They all get their rabies and distemper vaccines - on a yearly basis - if I can trap them to get them to a vet.
Your support and contributions will enable us to improve conditions, buy good nutritious food and pay for veterinary care.
